Advocacy for Inclusion
Advocacy for Inclusion Digital Storytelling Project 2016
Describe your community ambition
Advocacy for Inclusion wants to tell the stories of local people with disabilities. Through the digital stories, barriers and opportunities to inclusion will be recognised.
We advocate for some of the most marginalised people in Canberra. It is important for everyone to hear what people with disabilities have to say, and to have a meaningful contribution to the issues that are important to them.
In 2015 we partnered with Erindale College your 12 media students to film some short vignettes. You can see the stories on Youtube
How will you take action to achieve your ambition?
- Through the Self-advocacy Plus group build the confidence and speaking skills of people with disability
- With permission, ask interested people to share their story on video
- Share stories online and at Advocacy for Inclusion events
How could people in the community support your ambition?
Advocacy for Inclusion is looking for people with skills in the areas of:
- Video production
- Video Editing
To capture and edit short stories for display on social media and our website.
We are happy to partner with small business, tertiary students or interested individuals
How will you promote your ambition to the community?
What will success look like?
Having stories to share are important to illustrate what people with disabilities care about, what happens in their lives and their views on the world. The stories will demonstrate that everybody has a role to play in our community and we all benefit from an inclusive Canberra.
Success of the project will have at least three new digital stories to share at our Annual General Meeting
